Ian Noyce, in partnership with software consultant Dave Newton,
designed and built a computer numerical control (CNC)
machining centre in the late 1980s.
This machine does most of the complex machining tasks
involved in the production of fine guitars.
Noyce and Newton have also developed other products
utilising this technology. One of these is The
Card Keeper, which exemplifies the combination of
high-tech machining with traditional hand skills.
