Noyce 3-Axis NC Mini Machine Centre
Ian Noyce, in partnership with software consultant Dave Newton,
designed and built a computer numerical control (CNC)
machining centre in the late 1980s after meeting the brilliant Ray Gardner of Shepparton.
Ray designed and built the computer/electronics systems that run the machine and became a good friend. Dave built the software to read computer drawings and turn them into machine code to do all the machining to make our guitars etc.
Another good friend, Bernard Lakerink turned my crude drawings into fully documented engineering drawings to enable the engineering contractors to build the machine which we assembled in my workshop
|This machine does most of the complex machining tasks
involved in the production of fine guitars.
Noyce and Newton have also developed other products
utilising this technology. One of these is The
Card Keeper, which exemplifies the combination of
high-tech machining with traditional hand skills.
